Osmani Trust, a youth and community charity based in Tower Hamlets, is seeking a part-time Health & Sports Development Officer to support the delivery of inclusive health, wellbeing and physical activity programmes for young people and adults. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual who is passionate about improving health outcomes, increasing participation in sport, and supporting local communities through practical, engaging and accessible activities.

The Role

To plan, deliver, and oversee inclusive health, wellbeing, and physical activity programmes that increase participation and improve outcomes for young people and adults. The role aims to build sustainable engagement in sport and healthy lifestyles through effective session delivery, volunteer and staff development, and strong partnership working. It also ensures programmes are delivered safely, monitored effectively, and aligned with organisational objectives, funding requirements, and community needs.

Programme Delivery & Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all user groups, collecting and maintaining accurate registration and session attendance data.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor health workshops, physical activity sessions, and sports coaching programmes in line with guidance from the Line Manager.
  • Manage, deliver and facilitate weekly well-being sessions at Osmani Centre.
  • Deliver 4 health lifestyle workshops per year to the various user groups.
  • Support the delivery of sessions at Osmani Sports Hall and Stepney 4G, including session setup and coordination when the Project Lead is unavailable.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and adapt all session activities and programmes to improve engagement and outcomes.
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to participants enrolled in the OC Active project on health, physical activity, and relevant support services.
  • Retain young people and adults in sport and physical activity by offering progression routes aligned with their interests and abilities.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for all activities and sessions.
  • Carry out regular safety checks on venues and equipment.
  • Ensure first aid provision is in place and all sessions comply with health and safety standards.
  • Challenge and address discrimination and inequality in all aspects of programme delivery.

Project Management, Reporting & Administration

  • Complete the Mayor’s Grant (MCGP) report and manage the MCGP project budget effectively.
  • Monitor activities and workshops and produce evaluation and impact reports.
  • Manage the Jack Petchey Awards scheme.
  • Respond efficiently to general enquiries and complete all administrative tasks related to programme delivery.
  • Produce and implement annual project plans in line with organisational and funder requirements.
  • Manage, organise, and replenish sports equipment and storage areas.
  • Oversee activity-related equipment budgets to ensure value for money.

Partnership & Funding Development

  • Identify and explore new funding opportunities to support programme growth.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships aligned with project aims and objectives.
  • Represent Osmani Trust at meetings, forums, networks and conferences as required.

Teamwork, Professional Conduct & Development

  • Work effectively as part of the Osmani Trust team, building positive and respectful working relationships with all staff.
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision meetings, team meetings, Steering Committee meetings, training events, and team-building days.
  • Commit to a programme of continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Adhere at all times to Osmani Trust policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
