Responsibilities

  • FX Trading & Liquidity Management: Manage proprietary and flow-driven FX trading positions across Emerging Market currencies, with a focus on African (e.g., NGN, KES, ZAR, GHS), LATAM (ARS, BRL, MXN) and/or Asian (IDR, VND, etc.) markets. Source and maintain deep liquidity relationships with banks, brokers, and OTC desks across relevant regions. Execute spot, forwards, NDFs, swaps, and OTC trades to optimize execution quality and manage currency exposure. Monitor market developments, capital controls, and liquidity dynamics across EM FX markets. Design and implement FX hedging strategies to manage corporate or client-driven exposures. Optimize hedging efficiency across multiple liquidity venues including banks, ECNs, OTC desks, and crypto liquidity pools where relevant. Develop models for dynamic hedging, inventory risk management, and spread optimization. Monitor risk limits, PnL, and exposure across currency books.
  • Trading Infrastructure & Systems: Work closely with engineering and product teams to build and enhance FX trading and hedging infrastructure, including automated hedging engines, liquidity aggregation systems, smart order routing, and pricing and risk management tools. Integrate connectivity with banks, ECNs, and liquidity providers via APIs or FIX protocols. Improve execution automation, latency optimization, and real-time exposure monitoring.
  • Market Development: Identify and onboard new liquidity providers and OTC trading partners across emerging markets. Build pricing frameworks for illiquid currency pairs and support new corridor launches. Contribute to the development of scalable FX infrastructure supporting global payments and settlement flows.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5–10+ years of FX trading experience in Emerging Markets. Strong experience trading African currencies, such as: NGN, KES, ZAR, GHS, EGP. Experience working at global banks, EM FX trading firms, or crypto exchanges/market makers. Proven experience executing OTC and institutional-sized FX trades.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of FX market microstructure in illiquid markets, NDF markets and offshore hedging, capital controls and FX regulatory frameworks. Hands-on experience building or optimizing FX trading systems, hedging engines, and liquidity aggregation platforms. Familiarity with FIX connectivity, API-based trading systems, and algorithmic execution.
  • Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities. Ability to operate in high-volatility and fragmented liquidity environments. Strong network within EM FX liquidity providers and OTC trading desks. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting high-volume cross-border payment flows or treasury operations.
  • Experience trading EM FX through both traditional banks and alternative liquidity sources.
  • Familiarity with stablecoin/crypto liquidity markets in emerging economies.
  • Background in building or scaling FX market-making operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate across global teams and fast-paced environments.
