We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our multidiscipline Engineering team on a permanent basis. This engineer will join the OSL team of experienced process engineers and report to our Lead Process Engineer. Assigned to a project, the role will involve the production of a wide range of process engineering deliverables supported by the Lead Process Engineer for that project.
Responsibilities:
- Process design and engineering including performing process simulations, design calculations, process optimisation and sizing and selection of equipment.
- Preparation of various engineering deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams, Heat & Mass Balance, P&ID’s, Process Datasheets, equipment specifications, cause and effect diagrams, control philosophies, hazard studies, assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, PHA, etc.) and reports under the guidance of the assigned Lead Process Engineer.
- Support of process safety activities under the guidance of the Lead Technical Safety Engineer.
- Coordination of engineering activities with other disciplines and departments.
- Review of vendor’s documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications, and calculations.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with company and project HSEQ systems, on time and within budget.
- Check the work of other Process Engineers.
- Write detailed technical reports.
- Give presentations both internally and to clients.
- Presentation of personal, company and system improvements for consideration by the company.
- Participation in initiatives outside of day-to-day project activities to improve effectiveness of Process Department.
- Keeping up to date with technical developments, national/international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope.
Skills and Experience Required:
- A master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- An ongoing CPD programme.
- 10 years plus of post-graduate experience in high hazard industries. Design experience in similar role within an operating company, engineering consultancy or contracting business, preferably across all stages of a project (Concept/Feasibility, FEED and Detailed Design).
- Knowledge of HYSYS (or UNISIM) Process Steady-state Simulation Software, also knowledge of AspenONE Process Engineering suite is an advantage.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Visio, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Self-driven individual that can work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively to deliver optimal solutions.
- Effective written and oral communication style to pass and receive information, receive instructions and report on progress.
- Exceptional inter-personnel skills with proven track record of working within varied teams and engineers of all abilities.
- Client focused individual able to motivate and organise themselves in relation to others to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to manage own time and project interfaces.
- Ability to set own goals and to contribute to business development ideas.
