Chassis Engineering has over 16 years’ experience in HGV conversions, modifications, and bespoke vehicle body fabrications, serving major manufacturers and specialist clients across the UK and Ireland. As a Fabricator Welder, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and welding of vehicle chassis, bodies, and components to precise specifications. You’ll work on a variety of projects, including HGV conversions, additional axle fitments, and the integration of specialist equipment for Rapiscan Systems. This is a hands-on role requiring technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and weld steel and other metals using MIG, TIG, and other welding processes.
  • Carry out modifications, repairs, and custom builds on vehicle chassis and bodies.
  • Operate fabrication machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect and test completed welds and assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, workshop, and project teams to deliver bespoke solutions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and training initiatives.
QualificationsEssential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a fabricator welder in an automotive, HGV, or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding, with the ability to work with various metals and thicknesses.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of fabrication equipment, measuring instruments, and workshop tools.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Relevant vocational or technical qualifications in welding/fabrication.
  • Apprenticeship or formal training in welding or fabrication.
