Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Product Management to lead the vision, strategy, and lifecycle management of our Conventional X-ray product portfolio.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving the commercial and technical success of an established global product portfolio that includes the Rapiscan 6xx, Orion 6xx, Voti, and Gemini product families, while helping define the next generation of Conventional X-ray screening solutions.

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of security screening technology while leading a portfolio that serves customers across North America, EMEA, and APAC

The role will be predominantly remote, with occasional travel to our UK manufacturing site and other global locations, accounting for approximately 10% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Product Leadership
  • Define and execute the long-term product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Conventional X-ray portfolio.
  • Develop portfolio plans aligned with business objectives, market trends, and customer requirements.
  • Identify growth opportunities, emerging technologies, and adjacent markets that support future business expansion.
  • Develop and present compelling business cases to support investment decisions, new products, and portfolio enhancements.
  • Lead cross-functional product initiatives and influence strategic decision-making across the organisation.
  • Product Portfolio Management
  • Own the complete product lifecycle from concept through launch, sustainment, enhancement, and retirement.
  • Manage the Conventional X-ray portfolio, including current product lines and future technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure products remain commercially successful, technically competitive, and aligned with customer expectations.
  • New Product Development & Innovation
  • Lead product introductions through the Integrated Product Development Process (IPDP).
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that address evolving security challenges.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide strategic guidance on product direction and customer requirements.
  • Commercial Leadership
  • Partner with Sales and Technical Sales teams to support strategic bids, customer proposals, and major commercial opportunities.
  • Support global sales organisations across North America, EMEA, and APAC.
  • Provide pricing guidance and commercial approvals to maximise competitiveness and profitability.
  • Customer, Market & Competitive Intelligence
  • Act as the voice of the customer throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Gather customer feedback and market intelligence to inform product decisions.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market assessments to identify threats and opportunities.
  • Evaluate complementary technologies, partnerships, and value-added solutions that enhance customer offerings.
  • Operations, Manufacturing & Service Support
  • Support successful product introduction into manufacturing environments.
  • Partner with Operations teams to improve efficiency, product quality, and delivery performance.
  • Provide escalation support for product-related quality and operational issues.
  • Work with Service teams to develop after-sales growth opportunities, recurring revenue streams, and service offerings.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure products comply with applicable regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality and Certification teams to maintain compliance standards.
  • Monitor changes in industry regulations and incorporate requirements into product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
  • Build alignment across Engineering, Operations, Sales, Service, Marketing, and Executive Leadership.
  • Communicate product performance, strategy, and business results to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience owning the complete lifecycle of complex technical products.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Experience delivering new product introductions within a structured product development environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including business case development, pricing strategy, bid support, and profitability management.
  • Preferred Experience
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience within X-ray inspection, security screening, defence, aerospace, transportation technology, or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, change management processes, and ERP/quoting platforms.
  • Experience supporting global product portfolios and international markets.
