The Science & Technology Transition Lead plays a critical role in bridging the gap between research and operational delivery. This role oversees the transition of complex engineering and scientific developments into robust, scalable operational processes, while leading the day-to-day operation of the X-ray Imaging Laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe and efficient operation of the X-ray Imaging Laboratory and R&D bunkers
  • Design and improve laboratory workflows to balance throughput, quality, and safety
  • Coordinate scheduling of people, equipment, and testing activities
  • Manage laboratory equipment, calibration, and maintenance programmes
  • Develop inventory and stores management processes
  • Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Define and track KPIs including utilisation and turnaround time
  • Lead and develop a team of R&D technicians
  • Coordinate customer visits and demonstrations
  • Support transition of technologies from R&D to production

Qualifications

  • Degree in Physics or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing a technical laboratory or test facility
  • Strong operational and planning capabilities
  • Experience working within a QMS environment
  • Inventory and supply chain management experience
  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean/Six Sigma desirable)
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
