Oscott Manor School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team. Oscott Manor supports children with significant communication and interaction needs, including speech and language difficulties, medical needs and autism. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils’ learning, both in the classroom and through small group or 1:1 support. You will help deliver provision designed to develop pupils’ communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills, enabling them to access learning. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with SEND.
A good standard of education including Maths and English GCSE at 4-9 (or equivalent) is essential and training in communication support strategies (e.g. Makaton, PECS, AAC) is desirable.
What the Role Involves:
- Supporting children with communication and interaction needs, including autism and speech and language difficulties
- Providing personal care to some of our most complex children
- Delivering targeted interventions and supporting bespoke learning programmes
- Supporting children during continuous provision, structured activities and social interaction
- Helping pupils develop communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills
- Working closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO
- Supporting a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
