I'm currently working with an established UK insurance broker that has been at the forefront of its market for over 17 years.
Following recent investment to support expansion into new insurance markets, they're looking to hire a
Senior . NET Software Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of their engineering function.
This is far more than a traditional senior developer position. As one of the company's senior engineers, you'll help drive the adoption of test-driven development (TDD) across the engineering team while leading the implementation of an innovative agentic AI development workflow .
The vision is to combine robust testing, clear engineering standards and AI-powered coding agents to improve software quality, accelerate delivery and modernise the development lifecycle.
Working closely with teams across both the UK and India, you'll remain hands-on with development while influencing engineering best practices, mentoring colleagues and helping build the technical foundations that will support the company's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Drive the adoption of test-driven development (TDD) and promote best practices for unit and integration testing across the engineering team.
- Lead the implementation of an agentic AI development workflow, integrating AI coding agents into existing development and CI/CD processes.
- Design, develop and maintain scalable . NET applications, APIs and background services.
- Analyse existing applications to identify technical improvements, reduce risk and enhance maintainability.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions within AWS, following best practices for security, scalability and reliability.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code with comprehensive automated test coverage.
- Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting and production support capabilities.
- Mentor developers and champion engineering excellence across the wider development team.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of software architecture, development standards and delivery processes.
- Strong commercial experience developing applications using
C# and . NET .
- Experience building Web APIs, background services and enterprise applications.
- Excellent understanding of
Test-Driven Development (TDD) with strong unit and integration testing experience using frameworks such as x Unit .
- Strong SQL experience, including
- SQL Server (T-SQL) and
Postgre SQL .
- Experience working with
AWS cloud services including EC2, RDS, Lambda and S3.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools such as
- Team City ,
Octopus Deploy , or similar.
- Experience using
Git Hub , including pull requests, branching strategies and code reviews.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles including
SOLID , Clean Architecture and layered application design.
- Hands-on experience working with AI coding agents and AI-assisted software development workflows.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor colleagues and influence engineering best practices.
- Experience implementing agentic AI development workflows.
- Knowledge of Docker, ECS or Kubernetes.
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Cloud Watch, ELK or Grafana.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Previous experience mentoring developers and driving engineering improvements.
