We’re looking for a Senior VMware Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of a large-scale virtualisation and core infrastructure estate within a multi-site enterprise environment. This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on the performance, resilience, and continuous improvement of critical VMware platforms and supporting infrastructure. You’ll work closely with internal technical teams to ensure core systems remain stable, secure, and scalable. You’ll act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, lead platform lifecycle activities, and play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage enterprise VMware environments including vSphere, vSAN and VCF
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex VMware, storage, server and infrastructure issues
- Deliver upgrades, patching, maintenance and platform enhancements with minimal downtime
- Support infrastructure projects including migrations, consolidations and technology refreshes
- Manage platform lifecycle, capacity planning and performance optimisation
- Ensure security best practice across the estate including patch compliance and hardening
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation, runbooks and support procedures
- Work closely with operations, service desk and project teams to ensure smooth delivery
- Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing and business continuity readiness
- Drive automation and efficiency improvements where possible
