The Opportunity

I'm currently working with a rapidly growing organisation within the insurance sector, that is looking to hire a Senior Analytics Engineer to help shape and enhance its data and reporting capabilities.

This is a key role within the business, focused on consolidating data from multiple systems into a centralised environment that enables directors and senior management to access reliable reporting, actionable insights and improved business intelligence.

Reporting closely with senior stakeholders and the IT Director, you\'ll play a pivotal role in designing and developing the organisation\'s data architecture, helping to establish a single source of truth for business reporting and analytics.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining analytics engineering, data architecture, stakeholder engagement and business transformation within a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a centralised data platform to support reporting and analytics requirements across the business.
  • Consolidate data from multiple internal systems into a single trusted reporting environment.
  • Build, maintain and optimise data pipelines and transformation processes.
  • Design and implement scalable data models to support reporting and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Work closely with directors, management teams, and technical stakeholders to gather and translate reporting requirements.
  • Improve data quality, consistency, and governance across business systems.
  • Support the development and delivery of management reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation relating to data processes, models, and reporting structures.
  • Collaborate with the IT Director to define and execute the organisation\'s data strategy and roadmap.
  • Drive best practices across data management, reporting, and analytics capabilities.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, Data Warehouse Engineer, or similar role.
  • Advanced SQL skills with strong experience working with relational databases.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing data warehouses or centralised reporting platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data transformation methodologies.
  • Experience building scalable data models to support reporting and analytics.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.
  • Experience delivering reliable and scalable data solutions within a commercial environment.
  • Experience within the insurance, financial services, or regulated sectors.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics technologies.
  • Experience supporting BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and reporting best practices.
  • Experience working within a growing business undergoing data transformation.
  • Ability to communicate data insights and business value to senior stakeholders.

Package and Benefits

  • £80,000 - £100,000 salary (depending on experience).
