Senior Python Developer | Fully Remote | 6 Months | Build a New Multi-Asset Security Data Platform | Python, Postgre SQL, Pandas/Polars The Opportunity We're looking for a Senior Python Developer to join a data-focused team working on a new Security Master platform for a financial services client.
The project will involve building a multi-asset security data service covering equities, fixed income, funds and alternative assets across both the UK and US markets.
You'll work alongside an established client Data Team, contributing hands-on Python development to the ingestion, processing and distribution of critical financial data.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior developer who enjoys working with data-intensive systems, Python and modern cloud technologies, with the opportunity to develop further expertise within the financial services domain.
What You'll Be Doing Contribute to the development of a new Security Master / security data service.
Build and maintain Python-based data ingestion and processing pipelines.
Ingest, clean, transform and process security reference data, daily pricing data and corporate actions.
Work with multi-asset data covering equities, fixed income, funds and alternative assets.
Support the internal distribution of high-quality, reliable security data.
Work closely with the client's Data Team and wider technical stakeholders.
Develop robust, maintainable and scalable Python solutions.
Work with relational databases, particularly Postgre SQL.
Use modern Python data tools such as Pandas and/or Polars.
Contribute to development workflows using Git and Jira.
Help ensure data quality, consistency and reliability throughout the platform.
What We're Looking For Strong commercial experience as a Senior Python Developer / Software Developer.
Excellent hands-on Python development skills.
Experience working with Postgre SQL.
Strong experience working with data processing libraries such as Pandas and/or Polars.
Experience working with data ingestion, transformation or processing pipelines.
Comfortable working within collaborative development environments using Git and Jira.
Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work with complex datasets.
Able to work effectively alongside data engineers, developers and wider technical teams.
Nice to Have Knowledge or experience within financial markets / securities.
Experience working with GCP Big Query.
Experience with GCP Cloud SQL.
Experience with Terraform.
Experience with Apache Airflow.
Understanding of security reference data, pricing data or corporate actions.
