Overview
In this Finance Director role, you will take ownership of the finance function and lead financial strategy for a growing industrial engineering business in Nottingham. You’ll bring processes in-house, drive budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, and provide commercial insight to support growth and investment readiness. You will work closely with the leadership team to enable scalable finances and prepare high-quality investor packs. The role offers exposure to significant projects and the chance to shape the company’s financial infrastructure during a pivotal growth phase.

Responsibilities
- Own the finance function and strategic financial direction
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cash flow and reporting
- Develop financial packs for leadership and potential investors
- Provide commercial financial insight on high-value projects (up to 2m)
- Monitor profitability, costs, cash flow and working capital
- Improve financial processes, controls and systems as the business scales
- Maximise Xero with integrations and automation
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic decisions
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors and advisers
- Support R&D tax claims, grants and statutory compliance
- Develop infrastructure to support growth and future investment
Key requirements
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
- Strong senior finance experience in SME/growing business
- Experience in financial control, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
- Experience building or improving finance processes, systems and controls
- Strong commercial awareness and financial modelling
- Experience using Xero or similar cloud-based platform
- Experience producing management/board/investor reporting
