As VAT Manager in Solihull, you will manage a varied portfolio of clients, delivering VAT compliance and advisory services across corporate, property, and owner-managed business sectors. You will prepare and review complex VAT returns, advise on corporate transactions, restructures, partial exemption, business/non-business apportionments, and intercompany arrangements. You will act as the trusted point of contact for clients, lawyers, and professional advisors, and liaise directly with HMRC during inspections and audits. Mentoring and developing junior colleagues is a key part of this role. You will support technical growth, contribute to internal VAT training, and help build a collaborative, inclusive team culture. You will also work with partners to identify new business opportunities, contribute to proposals and pitches, and expand the firm’s VAT advisory offering.

About You

You will be ACA, ATT, or CTA qualified (CTA preferred) with strong experience in VAT advisory and compliance within a UK accountancy or advisory practice. You will have excellent technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and a proven track record of delivering complex VAT projects. You are proactive, client-focused, and enjoy mentoring junior staff while building long-term client relationships. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a practical approach to VAT are essential for success.
