Private Client Tax Manager – Exeter

We're recruiting a Private Client Tax Manager in Exeter on behalf of a highly respected and growing accountancy and business advisory firm.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced private client tax professional to join a specialist team, managing a high-quality portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, business owners, trusts and internationally connected clients.
The Role
You'll manage a varied portfolio of private clients, delivering a blend of tax compliance and advisory services while working closely with Partners and Directors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage a portfolio of HNW individuals, private clients and trusts
- Prepare and review personal tax returns and complex tax computations
- Advise on Income Tax, CGT, IHT and wider private client tax matters
- Support clients with UK residence and international tax issues
- Advise on overseas income, gains and investments
- Assist with cross-border tax planning and double tax relief claims
- Support advice on trusts, estates and succession planning
- Prepare technical reports and written tax advice
- Deal directly with clients, HMRC and professional advisers
- Identify tax planning and advisory opportunities
- Review work and provide guidance to junior team members
- Build strong, long-term client relationships
About You
You'll have strong experience in UK Private Client Tax gained within an accountancy practice or professional services environment.
You'll ideally have:
- CTA, ACA, ACCA or ATT qualified
- Strong personal tax compliance and advisory experience
- Experience advising HNW individuals, families and business owners
- Good technical knowledge of IHT, CGT and trusts
- Experience with international or cross-border tax matters advantageous
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills
- Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members
- Strong organisational and technical skills
- A proactive, commercial and client-focused approach
