We're recruiting a Personal Tax Manager in Torquay on behalf of a highly respected and growing accountancy and business advisory firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced personal tax professional to join a specialist team, managing a varied portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, trusts and private clients, with a strong mix of compliance and advisory work.

The Role

You'll manage your own portfolio while working closely with senior tax professionals to deliver high-quality personal tax advice and compliance services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage a portfolio of private clients, trusts and HNW individuals
  • Prepare and review Self Assessment tax returns and complex computations
  • Advise on IHT planning, residence and domicile
  • Provide CGT advice on property, shares and other assets
  • Advise both UK and non-UK resident individuals
  • Prepare technical reports and written tax advice
  • Attend client meetings and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Liaise with clients, HMRC, solicitors and other professional advisers
  • Review work and support the development of junior team members
  • Identify opportunities to introduce wider services across the firm
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and deliver a high standard of service

About You

You'll have previous experience in a UK personal or private client tax role, with strong exposure to both compliance and advisory work.

You'll ideally have:

  • ATT or CTA qualified, or equivalent experience
  • Strong personal tax compliance and advisory experience
  • Experience advising HNW individuals and trusts
  • Good technical knowledge of IHT, CGT, residence and domicile
  • Experience preparing and reviewing Self Assessment returns
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • A professional, discreet and client-focused approach
  • Experience mentoring or reviewing junior team members
