We are recruiting a Trust Accounts Senior on behalf of a highly respected and growing accountancy and business advisory firm in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Trust Accounts Senior, Accounts Senior, or Assistant Manager to join a specialist team working with trusts, landed estates, farming families, agricultural businesses, and rural entrepreneurs.

The role offers a strong mix of accounts, tax compliance, and advisory work, with excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

The Role

As a Trust Accounts Senior, you will work closely with clients and senior team members to deliver high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing annual trust accounts and tax returns
  • Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
  • Preparing accounts and tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, and companies
  • Preparing Inheritance Tax returns and Capital Gains Tax property returns
  • Overseeing bookkeeping and management accounting services
  • Preparing forecasts and financial projections
  • Analysing income and expenditure to support client decision-making
  • Identifying financial, commercial, and tax planning opportunities
  • Preparing correspondence and liaising with HMRC
  • Supporting clients with inheritance tax and capital gains tax matters
  • Attending client meetings and developing strong client relationships
  • Building knowledge of rural businesses, landed estates, and family wealth structures
  • Representing the firm at networking events and industry events

About You

You'll have:

  • AAT, ACA, or ACCA qualification, finalist status, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working within a UK accountancy practice
  • Strong knowledge of trust accounts and tax compliance
  • Experience preparing accounts and tax returns
  • Good understanding of UK personal and trust taxation
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong Excel and general IT skills
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of your workload
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills

Experience working with trusts, landed estates, agricultural clients, farming businesses, or private clients would be advantageous.
