  • Location: Telford, TF3 (Hybrid Working – typically 1 day per week in the office)
  • Pay Rate: Β£14.13 per hour PAYE | Β£18.21 per hour Umbrella
  • Contract: Temporary (Initially until December 2026, with potential extension until March 2027)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join a well-established Housing provider based in Telford, TF3.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established payroll team of five, supporting the delivery of monthly payroll activities across the organisation.

The position is initially guaranteed until December 2026, with the potential to extend until March 2027 to provide additional support during ongoing merger and integration activity.

The role offers hybrid working, with typically one day per week required at the Telford office and the remainder working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Payroll team with the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll activities.
  • Assist with payroll administration and ensure employee payroll information is accurately maintained.
  • Process payroll changes and updates in line with agreed deadlines.
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and investigate discrepancies where required.
  • Respond professionally to payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
  • Support the wider Payroll team with general administration and reporting.
  • Ensure payroll information is handled securely and in accordance with data protection requirements.
  • Work collaboratively as part of an established team to ensure monthly payroll deadlines are achieved.
  • Provide additional payroll support during ongoing organisational merger and integration activity.

About You

  • Minimum 2 years' payroll experience is essential.
  • Previous experience supporting the processing of monthly payrolls.
  • Good understanding of payroll processes and administration.
  • Strong numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work accurately and meet strict payroll deadlines.
  • Confident using IT systems and payroll software.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with payroll queries.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
  • Experience using Cintra IQ or Civica would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a payroll team.
  • Available to start at short notice would be advantageous.
