We're looking for an experienced network engineer to join the operations team. This is day to day incident response and production support, not a project/build role. You'll be the technical SME for DDI/DNS and load balancing infrastructure, owning incidents through to resolution and keeping the environment running. BlueCat is essential - candidates without hands-on BlueCat experience will not be considered for this role.
Key details:
- Rate: £64/hour (Inside IR35)
- Contract length: 9-12 months, likely to extend
- Working pattern: 4 days/week, 40 hours, rota covering 07:00-18:00
What You'll Be Doing:
- BAU operational support and incident triage for BlueCat DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM - on-prem and Cloud Resolver), F5 (LTM/GTM/APM), and VMware Advanced Load Balancer (Avi)
- Acting as the technical escalation point for business-impacting network incidents, working the problem until it's resolved
- Proactive reviews - DR testing, vulnerability checks, identifying gaps in observability
- Keeping runbooks, wikis, and documentation current so triage is fast and repeatable
- Secondary support on adjacent security infrastructure - firewalls, proxy, content inspection
- Enforcing production governance during triage, testing, and fixes
What You'll Bring:
- BlueCat DNS/DHCP/IPAM, including Cloud Resolver - hands-on and essential
- 7+ years in network operations/support (not project/design-only), with strong DNS/DHCP, SSL/TLS, HTTP/S, SNMP knowledge, plus layers 1-4 (TCP/IP, Ethernet, ARP)
- F5 load balancing (LTM/GTM/APM) and VMware Advanced Load Balancer
- Confidence troubleshooting complex problems independently, using tools like Wireshark, Splunk, NetScout, SevOne
