This role is jointly responsible for the creation and delivery of the People plan and strategy. The role understands the key areas of the business and supports managers to deliver improved people performance across all people metrics.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Contributes to the strategic direction of the People Team and identifies/develops projects/areas for the whole team to work on.
- Ensures accurate, optimised, relevant reporting is created and provided to managers (T&A/HRIS).
- Ensures all system users are trained and able to use systems.
- Reviews our statement of terms and policies regularly to ensure legal compliance and that they meet the needs of the business.
- Personally oversees complex grievance and disciplinary matters where there is significant risk to the business.
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of any significant structural or terms and conditions changes across the business.
- Supports the communication process across the site.
- Ensures the People Advisor and the People Administrator/Receptionist have regular reviews, clear goals and objectives with defined development plans.
- Manages OH Case Management in conjunction with Occupational Health Nurse.
- Coaches and guides the team and managers on resolving people issues.
- Ensures managers are developed to enable them to manage their teams effectively through coaching, one-to-one development sessions and group learning in areas relating to performance management, attendance, disciplinary and grievance, managing diverse teams.
- Defines end-to-end administration processes to ensure these are documented and fit for purpose.
- Analyses data on absence and sickness identifying trends and makes relevant recommendations to the business.
Key Attributes / Skills / Experience
- At least a level 7 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience of high volume work in a manufacturing, retail, hospitality or other fast-paced environment.
- Skilled in UK employment law knowledge, with demonstrable experience of current developments.
- Skilled and confident communicator with excellent written English skills.
- Ability to quickly build rapport and trust with the management team and have the gravitas to confidently advise them.
- Experience of managing, coaching and developing a team of People professionals.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office products and other systems and be numerate.
- Proven experience in coaching/training managers in employment relations related skills, e.g., disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management.
