PHP/Laravel Developer – Permanent | £40,000-£50,000 DOE | Hybrid (1-2 days in office, rest remote) | Office commutable from Birmingham (West Midlands)
Are you an experienced PHP/Laravel Developer looking to take on a role where you’ll work on exciting projects and be part of a forward-thinking development team? We’re partnering with a growing tech business that is looking to add a Software Developer to their engineering function.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing robust applications using PHP and Laravel
- Working with modern stacks such as TALL (Tailwind, Alpine.js, Laravel, Livewire)
- Designing and maintaining MySQL databases
- Building responsive front-end solutions (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks)
- Creating and consuming RESTful APIs
- Managing code with Git and using Docker/CI/CD for deployments
- Working within Linux environments and leveraging AWS services (EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, etc.)
- Collaborating with clients, clearly communicating progress and technical concepts
- Mentoring junior developers and supporting knowledge sharing across the team
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as Alpine.js or Vue.js
- MySQL and database design principles
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux CLI
- Experience with cloud environments (ideally AWS)
Bonus Skills (not Essential)
- Python
- GraphQL / Shopify integrations
- Unit testing (PHP Unit)
- Ecommerce platforms (Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.)
- Mobile application development
- Exposure to Machine Learning / AI
