We are working with a well established tech company with a global customer base to find a Data Engineer to join their growing data function based in Manchester. This is a role with real ownership and genuine influence. You will be responsible for shaping and evolving the data platform that underpins analytics, reporting, experimentation and AI-assisted workflows across the business. You will work closely with stakeholders across engineering, product and analytics to make sure data is accessible, reliable and structured in a way that supports both day to day operations and long term growth.
What the role involves:
- Designing and building cloud-native data infrastructure that scales
- Building and maintaining reliable ingestion, transformation and orchestration pipelines
- Developing semantic models and governed data structures that people can trust
- Improving data quality, observability and lineage across the platform
- Contributing to architectural decisions and long term platform strategy
- Supporting self-serve analytics and AI-enabled decision making across the business
What they need from you:
- Solid hands on Data Engineering experience
- Advanced SQL and Python
- Strong experience with AWS and modern warehousing tech - Redshift in particular
- Experience with dbt or similar transformation tooling
- A good understanding of data modelling, governance and semantic layer design
- Experience with agentic AI or AI-assisted tooling within data workflows
- Strong engineering judgement and the ability to balance long term thinking with practical delivery
- Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
