The Opportunity
We're looking for a Platform Lead Engineer to take ownership of core platforms and lead the delivery of key infrastructure and cloud projects across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive platform improvements, project delivery, and technical direction, while acting as the senior escalation point for complex issues. You'll work closely with the wider IT team and leadership to ensure systems are stable, secure, and continuously improving, while mentoring engineers and raising overall technical standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the delivery of infrastructure and platform projects across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments
- Acting as the technical owner for core platforms, ensuring performance, reliability, and ongoing improvement
- Taking ownership of major incidents and escalations, driving issues through to resolution
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, and service delivery
- Working closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business needs
- Supporting and mentoring engineers, acting as a go-to escalation point within the team
- Driving change management activities, ensuring smooth and controlled deployments
- Maintaining high standards across documentation, monitoring, and reporting
- Ensuring security best practices are embedded across platforms and projects
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in a senior infrastructure / platform / 3rd line role
- Proven track record of leading and delivering IT projects end-to-end
- Experience working across virtualisation, cloud, and core infrastructure
- Ability to own and resolve complex technical issues in live environments
- Strong communication skills - able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience mentoring or leading other engineers
