Summary: Oscar Technology supports a security services organisation in Doncaster that is looking for a Security Operations Manager to take ownership of their SOC function. This role focuses on leading and developing the SOC team, ensuring KPIs are met and maintaining a commercially aware approach to operational performance. While it is not a deeply hands‑on technical role, a solid background in SOC environments is essential, and exposure to managing or working alongside a service desk would be an advantage. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading the day‑to‑day operations of the Security Operations Centre
- Ensuring SOC KPIs, SLAs and operational targets are met and continuously improved
- Managing, mentoring and developing SOC analysts to maintain a high‑performing team culture
- Overseeing incident response processes, ensuring issues are escalated, handled and closed effectively
- Supporting the refinement of SOC processes, reporting, documentation and operational standards
- Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders on SOC performance and metrics
- Assisting with Microsoft/security partnership activities where needed
- Identifying operational improvements to enhance efficiency, visibility and team performance (Optional advantage)
- Working closely with or having previous oversight of service desk operations
Who We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in SOC management or leading SOC operations
- Proven experience running a security operations function with confidence in people, performance and process management
- A commercially minded approach, comfortable working with KPIs, reporting and wider business objectives
- Good understanding of SOC tools, processes and incident response workflows
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non‑technical teams
- Exposure to or collaboration with service desk functions is beneficial
- Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+, etc.) are a plus but not required
