We are on the lookout for a CAD Technician to join a long-established electronic security systems integrator, working on the design and documentation of CCTV, access control and perimeter intruder detection systems (PIDS) across some of the UK's most secure environments, custodial, critical national infrastructure, energy, healthcare and stadia. This is a design-focused role for someone who enjoys producing accurate, buildable drawings and 3D models. You'll work alongside design engineers and project managers, turning survey data and system specifications into the drawing packs installation teams work from. Decades of heritage behind the business and a client base that isn't going anywhere, with the flexibility of a fully remote setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce 2D drawings for CCTV, access control, intruder and perimeter detection systems, site layouts, camera coverage plans, containment routes and wiring schematics.
- Develop 3D models for design coordination, clash detection and client visualisation.
- Interpret survey data, architectural drawings and system specifications into accurate technical documentation.
- Produce panel layouts, rack elevations and equipment schedules to support procurement and installation.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision control and document issue in line with project and client standards.
- Update drawing packs through the project lifecycle, including as-built handover documentation.
- Support tender activity with early-stage concept drawings where required.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable AutoCAD experience within an engineering, security, electrical or building services environment.
- Eligibility for SC clearance and NPPV3 police vetting (UK residency requirements apply).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical and technical drawings.
- Confident working to drawing standards, revision control and document management processes.
- Comfortable working remotely and managing your own workload.
- Strong attention to detail, these drawings are used directly by installation teams on secure sites.
Desirable:
- Revit and 3D modelling capability
- Electronic security background (CCTV, access control, intruder, PIDS)
- Experience on custodial, CNI, defence or nuclear projects
- Existing SC and/or NPPV3 clearance
- BIM workflows / common data environments
