We are working with a growing accounting practice based in Bury that is looking to bring an experienced and client focused Accountant into their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in building lasting client relationships and is passionate about accounting and finance.
The Role
- Take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients spanning small and medium sized businesses, sole traders and partnerships across multiple sectors.
- Manage all accounting and financial matters across your client portfolio.
- Prepare year end financial statements including profit and loss, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and generate periodic reports.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, corporation tax and personal tax filings.
- Provide strategic advice on tax planning, budgeting and cash flow.
- Handle HMRC queries and ensure clients remain compliant.
- Oversee payroll processing and regulatory compliance.
- Support clients with Xero and QuickBooks set ups and software training.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparation and documentation.
- Mentor junior members of the team and support their development.
What We Are Looking For
- AAT Level 4 qualified as a minimum, or ACA, ACCA or CIMA equivalent.
- At least three years of experience working within an accounting practice.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks.
- Solid understanding of UK tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build client relationships.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines without losing composure.
- An interest in mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
