Systems Administrator - Hosting & Infrastructure

The Opportunity
I'm currently recruiting for a Systems Administrator to join a team supporting a diverse, multi-tenant hosting and infrastructure environment.
This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on virtualisation, Windows and Linux server administration, backup and disaster recovery, and infrastructure automation. You'll be involved in both BAU support and project work, acting as a 3rd-line escalation point while helping improve platform performance, reliability and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and support virtualised environments, including VM lifecycle management, resource optimisation, snapshots and host maintenance.
Troubleshoot complex Windows Server and Linux issues across performance, CPU/RAM utilisation, disk I/O, networking, backups and application failures.
Manage backup and disaster recovery using Veeam and R1Soft, including monitoring, optimisation and full or granular restores.
Support Plesk and cPanel hosting platforms, covering web, DNS, email, databases, SSL certificates and PHP versions.
Carry out website, server and hosting migrations between platforms and data centres.
Work with MySQL/MariaDB and SQL Server, supporting database restores, performance troubleshooting and customer investigations.
Monitor infrastructure using Zabbix, LibreNMS and associated platform tools, investigating alerts and contributing to capacity planning.
Contribute to infrastructure projects involving OpenNebula, AWS backup solutions and hosting platform improvements.
Develop automation using PowerShell, Bash and Python to improve efficiency and reduce manual administration.
Act as a 3rd-line escalation point, providing root cause analysis, customer updates and structured change plans.
Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and SOPs to improve support processes and knowledge sharing.
