Infrastructure Engineer
Manchester | Permanent | Up to £50,000
We're working with an established technology business that is looking to add an Infrastructure Engineer to its growing technical team.
You'll help support and maintain a large-scale infrastructure environment, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues and contributing to ongoing platform improvements.
What you'll be doing
- Providing third-line support across server, virtualisation, storage and backup environments
- Investigating and resolving complex infrastructure incidents
- Monitoring performance, capacity and platform availability
- Completing patching, upgrades and routine infrastructure maintenance
- Supporting backup, disaster recovery and business-continuity processes
- Working with internal technical teams and external technology partners
- Supporting infrastructure changes, migrations and improvement projects
- Maintaining technical documentation and operational procedures
- Participating in change, incident and problem-management processes
- Supporting occasional out-of-hours changes and an on-call rota
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer or Platform Engineer position
- Strong hands-on VMware experience
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments
- Knowledge of enterprise storage and SAN technologies
- Experience with backup and disaster-recovery solutions
- Strong infrastructure troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of networking, virtualisation, storage and operating-system concepts
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring and maintenance
- PowerShell or other scripting experience
- The ability to produce clear technical documentation
- Experience within an enterprise, managed-services or multi-site environment would be beneficial
Exposure to technologies such as VMware NSX, Cisco UCS, Azure or infrastructure automation would be advantageous but isn't essential. xgikmsk
Applicants must be willing to participate in an on-call rota and be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
