Job Description

Join our new organisation as an Investor Development Officer to help deliver a new economic development plan, creating and identifying new investment opportunities, and providing localised support for growth that will transform a whole region.

Welcome to EMCCA

EMCCA is the UKs first mayor-led combined county authority. The East Midlands is a great region. But it deserves to be better. Better connected, better funded and better prepared for a future of opportunity, growth, and hope. EMCCA will oversee devolved powers around transport, housing, skills and adult education, economic development, and net zero. We will conceive the strategies and create the connections that will empower local partners, people and businesses maximising the impact of billions of pounds of funding. Together, our new EMCCA team can put the East Midlands on the map as a place to live, work and study.

Your role in elevating the East Midlands

Investor development is a Key Account Management Programme (KAM) with the Department for Business and Trade to support key UK businesses. This initiative helps high-value companies optimise operations, access growth opportunities, and expand internationally.

Working with our various partners including the local investment agencies (IPAs) and Midlands Engine, youll develop a coherent inward investment offer for EMCCA to create and identify new investment opportunities for existing and new clients across the region, with a key focus on identifying active and potential investment projects and export opportunities for assistance and support.

You will also support efforts to attract low carbon/net zero investment to the East Midlands, focusing on EM Freeport, EMIZ, and other strategic developments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Investor Development Lead in managing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and UK companies, fostering in-depth relationships with key employees and owners.
  • Advising on the strategy and KAM Delivery plan to include the business case to secure future funding.
  • Identifying a pipeline of investment opportunities using social media, press, and the internet.
  • Helping to develop tailored support packages for clients, including finance, infrastructure, recruitment, training, and market access.
  • Providing information and marketing for events and campaigns to support inward investment in the EMCCA region.
  • Working with local investment agencies to integrate the Investor Development service into a comprehensive offer for investors.

Your profile:

  • Qualified to NVQ level 4 or equivalent in Business Administration or with relevant key account management experience gained in a commercial context, youll be able to demonstrate good stakeholder engagement and relationship management with partners from Public, Private and Education institutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and people skills to provide exceptional frontline support whether in person, via email, or phone.
  • Able to prioritise and manage time and resources to meet multiple and tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in scheduling and document preparation.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, able to co-ordinate and manage projects across partners, as well as organising and maintaining digital files.
  • Adapt to changing demands within the KAM programme.
  • Achieve impactful results and overcome challenges.
  • Collaborative team player with colleagues and external partners.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible approach.
  • A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
