The predicted salary is between 36 - 54 £ per hour.

We are seeking an experienced officer to carry out food standards inspections across a Welsh authority. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Trading Standards Officer or Environmental Health Officer with appropriate qualifications and maintained competency. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in Wales and a good understanding of the Welsh food standards regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections using an established inspection proforma.
  • Complete a visit sheet during the inspection and provide it to the trader before leaving.
  • Handle post-inspection administration, mainly scanning documentation and photographs.
  • Follow appropriate enforcement procedures when non-compliances are identified.
  • Collate evidence of criminal breaches and, where necessary, cooperate with council officers to support prosecution.

Engagement & Logistics

This is an initial three-month engagement, with the potential for extension subject to budget availability. Mileage expenses will be payable from the officer’s base office within the district. The role is suitable for a competent, self-sufficient professional comfortable working independently on the ground while maintaining high regulatory and evidential standards.

Employment Terms

Our client is flexible and happy to consider both Full-Time and Part-Time officers. Rates are currently negotiable; we expect market rates to be offered at around £45 per hour, however please reach out if you are interested in negotiating a higher rate.
