Our client, a Local Authority in South London, is looking for a Trading Standards Officer to join their team.
The role involves investigating complaints and non-compliance across a range of consumer protection and trading standards matters, carrying out inspections and enforcement action where required, and ensuring businesses meet their legal obligations to protect consumers and fair trading within the borough.
You'll manage your own caseload, gather and assess evidence, and take appropriate enforcement action, from advice and warning letters through to formal notices where necessary.
Candidates with existing Trading Standards experience are welcomed, along with strong investigative skills and a good working knowledge of consumer protection legislation and enforcement procedures.
Applicants without direct Trading Standards background but with relevant investigative experience - including ex-Police Officers - are also encouraged to apply, given the transferable skills in evidence gathering, interviewing, and enforcement.
Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently are essential.
This role pays £42 per hour (Umbrella), based in South London.
