Our client, a Local Authority in South London, is looking for an experienced Team Leader to join their Private Sector Housing team, providing strong leadership and day-to-day operational management of the service.
The role involves overseeing a team of Environmental Health Officers and enforcement staff working across HMO licensing, HHSRS inspections, disrepair, overcrowding, and general private rented sector compliance.
You'll manage caseload allocation and team performance, lead on complex or high-risk enforcement cases, ensure statutory obligations and Council policy are consistently met, and act as a point of escalation and professional guidance for less experienced officers.
Candidates should be experienced Environmental Health practitioners with a strong background in private sector housing enforcement and HHSRS application, along with proven experience managing or leading a team within a local authority setting.
You'll need detailed knowledge of housing legislation, HMO licensing requirements, and enforcement processes, together with strong decision-making skills and the confidence to represent the service in formal settings such as court or committee.
Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities across a busy, varied caseload.
This role pays £400-£425 per day (Umbrella), based in South London.
