We are seeking an experienced officer to carry out food standards inspections across a Welsh authority. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Trading Standards Officer or Environmental Health Officer with appropriate qualifications and maintained competency. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in Wales and a good understanding of the Welsh food standards regulatory landscape.
The role involves conducting on-site inspections using an established inspection proforma. A visit sheet is completed during the inspection and provided to the trader before leaving the premises, meaning post-inspection administration is minimal and largely limited to scanning documentation and photographs. Where non-compliances are identified, the officer will be expected to follow the appropriate enforcement procedures, and where evidence of criminal breaches is found, to collate evidence and, where necessary, work alongside council officers to support prosecution.
This is an initial three-month engagement, with the potential for extension subject to budget availability. Mileage expenses will be payable from the officer's base office within the district. This role would suit a competent, self-sufficient professional who is comfortable working independently on the ground while maintaining high regulatory and evidential standards.
Our client is flexible and happy to consider both Full and Part Time Officers. Rates are currently negotiable, we would expect market rates to be on offer which is currently around £45+ however please do reach out to us if you are interested and wanting to negotiate higher.
