We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to support a busy Council team in South Wales. This role will involve providing professional health and safety advice and ensuring compliance across a range of council services, with a strong emphasis on carrying out accident investigations and promoting a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports with recommendations, and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and audits, providing clear advice to managers and staff on compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proven experience in health and safety within a local authority or similar organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Strong investigative, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Professional health and safety qualification.

Contract/Working Arrangements:

This is an initial three-month contract with the likelihood of extension. The position offers flexible working, with the majority of duties able to be undertaken remotely, alongside some on-site work as required. The role is offered at £45 per hour (Umbrella) with a flexible start date, subject to pre-employment checks and IT setup. Flexible working and 3-4 days WFH per week.
