On behalf of our client, a local authority based in East Sussex, we are recruiting an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join their team on a contract basis.
The successful candidate will investigate, inspect, and monitor premises in response to HMO licensing requests, taking appropriate legislative action to resolve issues.
The role also includes preparing cases for prosecution or civil penalties, gathering evidence and witness statements, and acting as an expert witness in court, tribunals, or public enquiries as required, alongside project work such as landlord accreditation and energy performance standards.
Our client is looking for an experienced officer who holds the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) certification.
Although this is advertised as a full-time position working 37 hours per week, our client would be happy to consider applicants seeking part-time and/or flexible working arrangements.
The contract is due to start mid-August and will continue until February 2027.
The current advertised rate is £45 per hour, though we have asked the client to negotiate this higher to £50 per hour.
