Our client, a Local Authority in the West Midlands, is looking to recruit four experienced Senior Environmental Health Officers on an initial 3 month contract to support existing Private Sector Housing workstreams. You'll join a busy enforcement team and quickly take on complex casework with minimal supervision. The workload includes damp and mould investigations (detailed property assessments and proactive intervention to protect tenant health), Housing Act enforcement including Improvement Notices, Emergency Remedial Action and Emergency Prohibition Orders, serious disrepair investigations, HMO licensing and compliance inspections, proactive HMO investigations, civil penalties and prosecution case preparation, and illegal eviction and landlord harassment investigations.
Candidates should be highly experienced housing EHOs with a strong, demonstrable enforcement background in private sector housing regulation. Ideally, one of the four officers will have experience of high rise and medium rise residential buildings, including building safety, fire safety considerations, inspections of common parts, and working with Responsible Persons and managing agents. The key requirement is availability to attend inspections in the area five days a week, Monday to Friday, as urgent jobs often come in that need an immediate response, so even when working from home you must be able to get on site quickly.
This role pays Β£350 per day on an initial 3 month contract. Working is hybrid, with most of the team in the office 2 to 3 days a week and the rest from home. A couple of office days a week is preferred, as there are apprentices who benefit from support and exposure to experienced officers.
