Our client is a Local Authority based in Essex and they are seeking to employ a qualified and experienced individual who has the ability to lead and support a team of Planning staff through a busy period and temporary management absence. You will be required to provide timely and effective guidance, ensuring compliance, good practice, risk management, and enabling the Council to deliver for its customers seeking or interacting with Development Management services. The role would support the existing Team Leader and will also involve carrying a small caseload of Major applications/Pre-applications and PPA (Planning Performance Agreements).
Key Responsibilities
- To support the existing Team Leader in managing the Development Management officers
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, legislation, professional codes of conduct, health and safety requirements and adherence to council policies, whilst the Head of Development Management has functional responsibility for the wider Development Management Service
- To support the delivery of projects, interventions and initiatives and develop policies in-line with corporate and business plans as required by the role
The Experience you will bring
- Demonstrable expertise and experience across the broad remit of the role, having the ability to work at the level required for this role
- Experience and demonstrable knowledge of a Local Authority Planning Department and associated regulations and governance arrangements
- Educated to degree level in Planning or a relevant subject
This is initially a 3 month contract with potential for extension. It is inside IR35 and the rate offered is £65/hr Umbrella. Our client offers hybrid working with 2 days a week on site (Wednesday is compulsory), plus attending meetings when required.
