Our client, based in Essex, is seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to support a busy Environmental Health team on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension. The role will focus on complaints-led investigations relating to statutory nuisance, filthy and verminous premises, pest and waste accumulation issues, drainage concerns, and wider pollution and public health matters, including enforcement action and serving notices where required.
The successful candidate will have proven experience investigating statutory nuisance, pest-related, hoarding, and environmental enforcement cases, along with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and customer-focused service delivery. Experience responding to planning and licensing consultations is also required, with knowledge of drainage investigations and enforcement, particularly within rural settings, considered highly advantageous.
A degree or diploma in Environmental Health and registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board are desirable. This is a full-time opportunity, although part-time applicants will also be considered. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to public health initiatives within a supportive local authority environment. Current pay rates are between £45 to £50 per hour.
