We have a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join our growing Finance department based in our central Bristol office offering some hybrid working. This position will play a crucial role preparing and processing client and office cash transactions, maintaining office and client ledgers, and preparing related reconciliations and calculations. It is a permanent position with flexibility to meet deadlines as required.
The Senior Legal Cashier will liaise with Partners and Fee Earners individually and collectively through the maintenance of client and office cash records and the provision of associated advice. Working across the finance team, you will ensure that all associated records are up to date and that relevant deadlines are met.
Other Key Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare and process international and domestic payments from the firm's electronic banking facilities on a daily basis from both office and client bank accounts.
- Co‑ordinate and communicate the receipt of office and client monies to fee earners on a daily basis and investigate to ensure compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and Money Laundering Regulations (MLR).
- Prepare start‑of‑day balancing report for all firm bank accounts and end‑of‑day balancing for client funds.
- Maintain the client and office ledgers, posting receipts and payments while ensuring full compliance with internal controls and regulations (SAR and MLR).
- Support the firm's treasury management policy, performing transfers and offset calculations.
- Prepare daily and monthly bank account reconciliations for all client and office bank accounts.
- Prepare interest calculations for client accounts on a daily and quarterly basis.
- Complete complex bill reversals and repayments to clients where necessary.
- Assist with audit work, administrative tasks, compile data, conduct research and undertake special projects as required.
- Support the maintenance of the accounts payable ledgers through the opening of supplier and bank records.
- Support other members of Finance in the preparation of financial information as required.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:
- Specialist experience of working within a Legal Cashiers position at a senior level within a law firm.
- Extensive knowledge of Solicitors Account Rules, Money Laundering Regulations and electronic banking processes.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision and identify and act on issues that need to be escalated.
- A collaborative approach with colleagues across all aspects of the Legal Cashiers team's work.
- Strong communication skills to interact appropriately and constructively with customers and colleagues.
- The ability to follow policies, processes and instructions while making suggestions for improvements.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly numerical accuracy.
- Good organisational skills, time management and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
