Osborne Clarke invites applications for a Senior Associate/Associate Director role within our Financial Institutions Group (FIG), based in London or Bristol, focusing on Consumer Finance.
Overview
Our Consumer Finance practice combines marketâleading financial services and digital business expertise, inâdepth regulatory knowledge, and inâhouse consumer credit and payments experience. The practice serves institutional clients, major technology companies and innovators in digital payments and consumer credit, on regulatory issues, product launches and new market developments.
The Team
The FIG group spans London and Bristol offices and comprises 10 Partners, 2 Legal Directors, 7 Associate Directors, 6 Senior Associates, 11 Associates, 4 Trainee Solicitors, 3 Solicitor Apprentices, 1 Senior Paralegal and 4 Paralegals. The role will work closely with Partner Nikki Worden and Legal Director Charlotte Harris, who are based in London, but collaboration across our London and Bristol offices is common.
The Work
Clients include innovators in consumer finance, consumer banking, FinTech and payments, as well as established institutions. The work covers regulated consumer finance advice, pointâofâsale finance, regulated mortgage and credit product launches, and subscription models. Extended expertise in data privacy, technology and data analytics supports these efforts, and crossâfirm collaboration is frequent in a fastâmoving environment.
Technical Skills and Experience
The role requires a detailed understanding of consumer finance matters and a track record of providing clear legal and strategic advice. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience advising on the Control of the Consumer Credit (CCA) regime and the Consumer Credit (CONC) Act
- Knowledge of the Money, Credit and Banking (MCOB) Regulation
- Familiarity with Banking Conduct (BOBS) and Financial Services (FSMA) Regulation
- Experience with the Retail (RAO) Consumer Credit Act
- Some payments experience is desirable but not essential
