You will lead high-stakes tax disputes work across HMRC investigations, tax litigation, and voluntary disclosures, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver client-focused outcomes. The role combines strategic leadership, business development, and people management within a renowned, multi-sector tax disputes practice. You will be a visible driver of the firm’s 2030 growth agenda and partner-track ambitions.

Responsibilities

  • shape and execute growth strategy for the Tax Disputes practice
  • build and manage a team with succession planning toward partnership
  • lead major tax disputes work before HMRC, tribunals and higher courts
  • develop and maintain key client relationships and drive business development
  • contribute to cross-functional collaboration with related service lines
  • advise on tax disputes in sectors including technology, financial services and gig economy
  • participate in policy and regulatory discussions impacting tax disputes

Key requirements

  • qualified solicitor or barrister with UK Tax Tribunal and higher court experience
  • experience leading a team within tax disputes
