This is a pivotal role at the heart of the firm, responsible for promoting and protecting our reputation and bringing our 2030 strategy to life for colleagues and external audiences.
You’ll be a strategic adviser, a compelling storyteller and a calm, confident presence in complex situations – helping to build pride in Osborne Clarke across our international network and strengthening our brand in the market.
This is a permanent role that can be based out of any of our UK offices. Our approach to working is flexible and collaborative, and you’ll be expected to work in a way that supports both business needs and effective engagement with colleagues across jurisdictions.
The purpose of the role is to promote and protect the firm’s reputation through a comprehensive communication strategy, with a particular focus on strategic internal communications. You will ensure our 2030 strategy is clearly articulated and consistently communicated, inspiring pride and engagement across the network and supporting a strong, coherent external profile.
You will:
- Work with the CEO, Head of Markets, Flagship & Growth Services Leads, International Director of BD & Operations, and national Marketing & Communication Directors and Heads to develop and drive an integrated internal communications strategy that reinforces OC’s 2030 strategy and objectives.
- Develop and deliver a 12‑month integrated communications plan for the CEO, International Director of Ops & BD and Head of Markets, covering both internal colleague engagement and external profile‑raising.
- Create and lead a comprehensive internal communications and employee engagement strategy that reinforces OC’s 2030 strategy, objectives, achievements, key messages, developments and brand values.
- Act as a trusted communications adviser to the International Board, preparing board‑level messaging and materials, and ensuring clear information flow and alignment on the 2030 strategy across the network.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Marketing and Communications colleagues across the OCI network, fostering a collaborative community and ensuring alignment with national communications, consistent messaging and shared best practice.
- Work with external PR and communication consultants as appropriate to communicate key strategic messages and announcements externally.
- Provide professional support to OCI Leadership and Business Services so that our people across the network receive consistently excellent services.
- Contribute to the continuous review and improvement of communications‑related processes.
- Promote a culture of mutual understanding through effective communication across the OC business as a whole.
- Undertake any other duties required to ensure the effective operation of the corporate communications service.
You will report directly to the CEO. There are currently no direct line reports, but the role involves leadership and influence across multiple teams and jurisdictions.
What we’re looking for:
You will be an experienced communications professional with a 360 approach to communications, capable of operating at a senior level in a complex, international environment.
Core skills:
- A capable and inspiring people manager, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others.
- Strategic advisory expertise, with a proven ability to earn trust and influence senior executives up to board level.
- Significant experience in reputational risk management, crisis communications and issues management.
- A deep understanding of internal communications and the role it plays in shaping organisational culture.
- Excellent emotional intelligence, relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills.
Technical:
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce corporate yet engaging content.
- Strong planning, process and project management skills.
- Familiarity with AI tools and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
- A proven track record of developing and leading PR and communications strategies in a complex corporate environment.
- Media training (or willingness to undertake media training).
Leadership & management:
- Ability to coach, mentor, inspire and motivate direct reports and peers.
- Sound knowledge of HR policy and employee relations, and how communications can support people‑related initiatives and change.
Attributes:
- Strong business acumen and pragmatism, with a commercial mindset and financial literacy.
- Self‑motivated, proactive and flexible, with the ability to embrace and capitalise on change.
- A calm and rational approach to problem‑solving and critical thinking.
- Excellent judgement, integrity and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work to tight and competing deadlines and priorities.
- An international mindset, with awareness of geo‑political events and their potential reputational implications for the firm.
