We are looking for a solicitor at Associate level to join our highly regarded Planning and Environment team. The team works cross-office between London and Bristol and, from a base in Bristol, you will support our national and international service lines and sectors. This role will be predominantly planning focused.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team advising on major and significant energy, infrastructure, and built environment projects. You will be able to develop your career and grow your own practice in a supportive and collegiate environment.

The practice is truly comprehensive in scope and features leading work on a national and international scale. We advise on major infrastructure projects including:

  • energy
  • strategic transport
  • urban regeneration
  • mixed use and residential development
  • commercial and logistics projects
  • major retail development

We also provide guidance on environmental compliance and procedure. This role will be focused on supporting primarily on energy and infrastructure projects alongside Osborne Clarke's wider multi-disciplinary Energy Team. Our clients in this sector include a broad range of developers, asset managers, investors and public utilities.

The team is led by partners Neil Bromwich & Christian Silk who are based in our Bristol office. The team across Bristol and London consists of four partners and 12 qualified solicitors. All lawyers work across both offices in strong, collegiate and friendly teams.

The team works on supporting clients on complex consenting of projects, notably in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Examples of the work types include:

  • Promoting and supporting clients on Nationally Significant Infrastructure projects.
  • Providing advice and strategic support on the compulsory purchase of land rights for energy projects.
  • Advising on Environmental Impact and Habitats Assessments related to major projects.
  • Drafting and negotiating planning and infrastructure agreements.
  • Undertaking planning appeal work on energy and infrastructure projects, including advocacy at hearings.
  • Advising and supporting clients on judicial reviews in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
  • Undertaking tribunal work on compulsory purchase compensation claims.

You will have gained experience of a wide range of Planning matters at a well-respected practice. You will be highly motivated and interested in getting involved in a broad range of development work. Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking for an Associate lawyer, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

We are particularly looking for a solicitor who has experience of development work in the energy and infrastructure sectors or an enthusiasm to further their career in this area. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys engaging with clients and building lasting relationships.
