We're looking for talented Associate lawyers to join one of the UK's largest and most respected Pensions teams. You'll be part of a rapidly expanding national team spanning London, Bristol and Reading - with a base office (so no cross-country commuting required) and the flexibility to work remotely. This isn't a role where you'll be quietly tucked away doing routine work. From day one, you'll be handling high-profile matters, building real client relationships and developing your business development skills across the full spectrum of pensions law - contentious and non-contentious, private and public sector.
The practice advises employers, trustees and local authorities on running pension schemes compliantly and managing risk. We also run Open Trustees, one of the UK's leading independent trustee companies — meaning we don't just advise on pension schemes, we operate them too. Our work spans:
- Risk reduction and transfer - buy-ins, buyouts and alternative funding arrangements
- PPF assessment periods, high-profile insolvencies and scheme rescues
- Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) across England and Wales
- Trusted adviser relationships across pension schemes of every size and complexity
- Corporate acquisitions, disposals, scheme mergers, restructurings and wind-ups
- Complex litigation - including professional negligence, Part 8 claims and beyond
The team currently comprises a broad mix of senior and junior lawyers at varying levels of seniority – with a unique, diverse and approachable culture.
What we're looking for: You'll have meaningful hands-on experience in non-contentious pensions work from a reputable team, covering the areas we've described. We're hiring at Associate, though the right candidate matters more than an exact title match. If you're the right fit, we'll make it work.
Your development: Our multi-award winning career development programme is built around you. Expect:
- Clear progression expectations from the outset
- Early responsibility and meaningful client exposure
- Individual feedback from experienced colleagues
- Technical and skills-based training, increasingly tailored to you
- Reward based on contribution and potential
Salary and benefits: We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
