We have a great opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Marketing and Sales team on a permanent basis in either our Bristol or London office.
Working with and reporting to the Senior BD Manager for D&R, the Business Development Manager is responsible for planning, delivering and optimising integrated marketing and business development activity that supports the firm’s strategic objectives and revenue growth.

The D&R practice is one of the firm's priority practices internationally, with the UK team at the forefront.
The UK practice is comprised of six service lines: Commercial Disputes, Construction Disputes, IP Disputes, Property Disputes, Regulatory Disputes and Restructuring & Insolvency.
This role will work across the entire practice and with other parts of the firm as required.
Combining strategic input, stakeholder management and hands-on delivery, this is a high profile role with scope to shape and deliver innovative and effective BD activity within a dynamic practice group environment.
Working with partners, senior lawyers and the wider Marketing & BD team, the role holder will:
- Develop and execute BD/marketing plans and campaigns.
- Manage and deliver high quality client facing content, events and digital activity.
- Lead BD and marketing initiatives related to targeting, pipeline development and relationship management.
- Take responsibility, working with the Senior BDM and practice leadership, for marketing budgets and reporting on ROI.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading initiatives and projects to drive growth in line with D&R service line marketing plans.
- Collaborating with sectors and non-D&R service lines to identify and exploit client opportunities.
- Developing referral relationships with external organisations.
- Collaborating with the Events team and relevant fee earners to deliver targeted, successful events within budget, including follow-up activities and ROI evaluation.
- Drafting and executing communications plans, briefing internal teams and external partners, generating mailing lists, and tracking/reporting success.
- Producing and managing content for external communications, such as brochures, email campaigns and videos, in collaboration with fee earners and Brand and Comms teams.
- Repurposing marketing content for various channels, including social media, podcasts, videos and website, working closely with the Digital Channels team.
- Creating and maintaining a suite of high quality go-to-market documents, such as team sheets and credentials documents.
- Advising on Legal Directories.
- Supervising Assistants on certain projects and initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Significant BD/marketing experience in a legal, professional services, B2B or similarly complex environment.
- Experience working with a Disputes or related practice group.
- Client focused mindset, always considering the experience and value for clients.
- Exceptionally organised, with a keen eye for detail, and highly literate and numerate.
- Demonstrable experience in managing multiple projects to completion and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence with new ideas and approaches.
- Strong use of data to inform decision making and making recommendations.
- Confidence in briefing partners and lawyers on sales and marketing initiatives, capturing clear information for implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical subject matter into clear, client focused messages and capable of building strong rapport with sales, marketing, and legal teams.
- Confidence in self-assessing projects and suggesting alternative ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Excellent IT skills, with experience in Inter Action or a similar CRM database.
