An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join our client’s successful and growing team.

Our client is a globally recognised engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke food processing machinery and industrial systems. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a capable and versatile Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join their team.

This is a hands‑on role involving the complete electrical wiring and testing of complex industrial machinery, alongside supporting wider electrical works across the site.

Duties of an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician:

  • Wire and connect complete electrical systems across industrial machinery, including sensors, motors, actuators and interconnects
  • Carry out functional testing, I/O checks and basic electrical fault‑finding prior to commissioning
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, layout drawings and structured BOMs
  • Assist with verifying signal paths and validating the safe operation of machinery
  • Support electrical installation work around the factory, including lighting circuits, distribution boards and equipment upgrades
  • Assist with new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects within production areas
  • Work closely with other departments during machine build, routing, alignment and system integration
  • Maintain a safe, tidy and professional working environment while delivering high‑quality workmanship

What we would like from you:

  • Previous experience in machine wiring, industrial electrical assembly or a similar electrical engineering environment
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring documentation
  • Practical experience working with control devices, drives, sensors and motors, including DOL and VFD configurations
  • Experience identifying and resolving electrical faults during machine build and testing
  • Full UK driving licence is essential
  • A flexible approach, with the ability to work across workshop build activities and wider electrical support
  • Positive attitude, strong team‑working skills and excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Electrical installation experience within an industrial, commercial or domestic environment
  • 18th Edition or equivalent recognised electrical qualification
  • Exposure to automation systems, PLC/HMI architecture or drive commissioning
  • Experience within a machinery manufacturing or engineering environment

Working Hours

The position is contracted at 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Typical working hours are:

  • Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
  • Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm

There is a 10-minute morning break and a 30-minute lunch break each day. Overtime may be available, including Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, and is paid at 1.5x the standard hourly rate.
