Role: Laser Welder / Fabrication Technician

Location: Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

Salary: £17.00 - £22.50 per hour + Overtime Available

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Laser Welder / Fabrication Technician to join our client's successful team.

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded precision sheet metal manufacturer based in Hertfordshire. They specialise in high-quality laser cutting, CNC punching, folding, welding, finishing and full assembly services, supplying bespoke components and finished products to a range of industries. Due to continued growth and investment in modern handheld laser welding technology, they are now looking to expand their welding team.

Duties of a Laser Welder / Fabrication Technician:

  • Operate handheld laser welding equipment on stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium components
  • Carry out TIG / MIG welding where required
  • Fabricate and assemble bespoke sheet metal products
  • Work with materials mainly between 1mm and 5mm thickness
  • Finish welded products to a high cosmetic standard including graining and polishing
  • Read and work from engineering drawings
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy standards are met
  • Support continuous improvement of welding processes
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work area at all times

What we would like from you:

  • Previous laser welding experience
  • Sheet metal fabrication experience
  • Experience working with thin gauge materials from 1mm to 5mm
  • High-quality finishing skills including polishing and graining
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Positive attitude and reliable approach to work
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required
  • Willing to help others
