Our client is a well-established specialist contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality services across a range of commercial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new business opportunities, strengthen client relationships and support their long-term growth strategy.

This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to take ownership of business development activity and make a genuine impact within a supportive, down-to-earth team. Working closely with senior leadership and operational colleagues, you'll play a key role in identifying opportunities, building lasting relationships and helping shape the future direction of the business.

Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in the construction industry to take ownership of a newly established role. You'll be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing relationships with new and existing clients, and re-engaging lapsed accounts. Working collaboratively with the Managing Director, Contracts Managers and Marketing team, you'll help drive sustainable business growth while ensuring clients receive an exceptional service throughout their journey.

The role offers plenty of variety, combining business development, relationship management, networking and strategic planning, with the autonomy to shape your own approach and contribute to the company's continued success.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities across the construction sector
  • Building strong relationships with new, existing and lapsed clients
  • Managing and developing a healthy sales pipeline using the CRM system
  • Attending client meetings, networking events and industry exhibitions
  • Working closely with the Contracts Management team to maximise commercial opportunities
  • Supporting client relationships by attending pre-start meetings where required
  • Collaborating with the Marketing team on campaigns and market awareness initiatives
  • Preparing pipeline reports, forecasts and business development activity updates
  • Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for future growth
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to generating and converting new business

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous Business Development experience within the construction industry is essential
  • A proven track record of winning new business and developing long-term client relationships
  • Strong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business development
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage pipelines and sales activity
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of your workload
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
