An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stores Operative to join a long-established and respected manufacturing company. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will support the day-to-day running of the Stores department, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, movement and dispatch of materials throughout the factory.

You will work closely with production, purchasing and stores teams to maintain stock accuracy and ensure materials are available to support manufacturing operations. This role also offers the opportunity to provide cover for the Stores Supervisor during periods of absence.

Duties of a Stores Operative:

  • Issue consumable materials and loan tools, accurately recording all stock transactions.
  • Receive and inspect deliveries, checking quantities against purchase orders and reporting any discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Match delivery notes with purchase orders and distribute documentation to the Purchasing department.
  • Pick and prepare materials for production using pick lists generated by the MRP system.
  • Prepare, package and dispatch customer and supplier consignments, ensuring goods are securely packed for transit.
  • Assist with stock control, traceability records and maintaining required inventory levels.
  • Support general warehouse housekeeping, ensuring stores and material handling equipment are clean, organised and safe.
  • Deliver and collect materials as required.
  • Build effective working relationships with production supervisors and other departments.
  • Provide cover for the Stores Supervisor when required.
  • Contribute ideas to improve stores procedures and material handling processes.

What we would like from you:

  • Previous experience within a Stores, Warehouse or Materials Handling environment.
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory processes.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good level of Maths and English.
  • Forklift Truck licence is desirable, although training can be provided.
  • Ability to work accurately and follow procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
