The role
To manage a team of
Property Accountants as well as retaining direct responsibility for a portfolio of properties, contributing to day-to-day delivery and leading from the front.
Duties
- Lead and manage the Property Management Accounts team
- Define clear roles, responsibilities and performance expectations
- Establish regular team meetings, one-to-ones and workload planning
- Recruit, develop and retain high-performing team members
- Create a culture of accountability, ownership and delivery
- Manage a defined portfolio of properties
- Prepare and review service charge accounts, reconciliations and client reporting
- Oversee rent collection and arrears management
- Support the team during peak periods and deadlines
- Lead by example through high-quality delivery
- Implement a clear operating structure
- Introduce task tracking and ownership
- Establish a monthly close timetable
- Ensure processes are documented and followed
- Oversee all reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with RICS Code and internal controls
- Enforce PO and approval processes
- Introduce review procedures
- Deliver concise reporting and dashboards
- Provide insight to support asset management decisions
- Work closely with Property Asset Management and Facilities Management teams to enable the business to deliver a high-quality service
Requirements
- Experience of managing a team of property accounts
- Extensive property management experience β including complex service charge reconciliations.
- Ideally Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA preferred)
- Systems experience (Qube/MRI preferred)
