About this role
This role is the catalyst in bringing our ground breaking systems to life. Our Control engineers are technical gurus, progressive thinkers, and expert trouble shooters all rolled into one. This is a diverse role in which you work on developing bespoke machinery to meet our customers’ needs, operating in a fast-paced environment as part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers. Our control team is diverse and we value the fresh perspective of a graduate and the seasoned expertise of an experienced engineer in equal measure. Our industry and our projects move quickly, and there’s lots to go at, with opportunities to take ownership and make a genuine difference to a project’s outcome. You need to be willing to get stuck in, combining your technical nous, with strong communication and a pinch of lateral thinking to deliver On Spec, to Budget and In Time.
Your responsibilities:
- Specifies and designs control system circuits and documentation.
- Develops and simulates PLC, HMI/SCADA systems and software.
- Configures and commissions inverter drives.
- Checks and approves electrical schematics.
- Checks calculations and architecture.
- Conducts functional safety studies.
- Reviews designs against DNV and/or other standards.
- Selects and procures control system components.
- Contributes to sales proposals.
- Liaises with suppliers for expediting purposes.
About you:

Your experience:
- Experienced in designing and commissioning safety automation and control systems for marine and/or hazardous environments.
- Understands PLC programming for safety and process applications.
- On-site commissioning and fault-finding experience.
- Siemens TIA Portal experience (desirable).
- Experience with DNV certification (desirable).
- Experience with SIL (desirable).
Further information:
Successful applicants will be based at our Riding Mill headquarters in North East England, working on site as required. Working abroad may be required at times. A valid driving licence is required.
